Metformin and Longevity

Posted on January 7, 2020April 14, 2022 by Carl Barney

I’ve been reading and hearing about the benefits of Metformin, and recently a doctor whom I trust suggested that I watch the TEDMED talk by Dr. Nir Barzilai posted below.

Dr. Nir Barzilai opens with a funny Woody Allen story and then presents some remarkable data about Metformin, aging, and life extension. The drug has been used and studied for over 40 years, and there’s a large body of evidence regarding its effectiveness and its side effects (it’s considered relatively safe).

Based on this video and a number of articles and conversations, I believe Metformin is worth considering. You may want to Google it and consult with your physician.
