Who Has Been Running the Country?

Posted on July 1, 2024July 1, 2024 by Carl Barney

As many people are aware, I was deeply saddened to observe President Biden’s cognitive decline in last week’s Presidential debate. I worry about foreign leaders like Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and others observing the clear frailty of the “most powerful man in the world.” He struck me as one of the weakest.

This observation isn’t new; many people have noticed his decline over the last several years. What is new, however, is how publicly and emphatically it was demonstrated.

So, who has been running the country? Clearly not President Biden. Prominent names such as former President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton come to mind.  I also see the influence of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over everything, particularly the “Green New Deal” and the environmental horrors perpetrated on the country. Beyond that, I also see Senator Elizabeth Warren and, to a smaller degree, Senator Dick Durbin… to say nothing of Senator Bernie Sanders.

President Biden was positioned to prevent Bernie Sanders from becoming the Democratic candidate, as it was believed that Sanders couldn’t win the presidency. Consequently, President Biden, Ocasio-Cortez, and their allies have been our president for the last three years. Oh, dear.

This has been government by puppeteers, government by stealth.

There is an element of dishonesty, a coverup. Certainly, Mrs. Biden and the President’s close associates were aware of this even before he was first elected.

Precisely. Biden is cognitively kaput. Those behind him are awful and unaccountable. And the monsters of the world, the Putins, Kims, and Khamenies are not missing the point.

I think even when a president does ~not~ have cognitive decline, there is simply too much detail for him to be on top of. Imagine being a CEO of — instead of a 10,000 person corporation with a dozen product lines — you are the CEO of an operation involving 350 million people and 1000 “product lines” or functions or activities or involvements of government.

And instead of a 10-page mission plan for the coming year, you are tasked with implementing a blizzard of constantly shifting laws passed in the dead of night which each have hundreds of pages and are written in vague bureaucratic “virtue signaling” prose.

Constantly there’s some new issues, something domestic, something political, something in foreign affairs, something military.

I would hate to be president (fortunately no one’s asking me 😜).

So the question is who has a president’s ear? Who does he trust to help him ride the bucking bronco? I’m not so sure that the senators like Warren or Sanders or even a former president have near as much impact because they don’t get multiple and repeated bites of the apple, they’re not in the White House and constantly talking to him.

There’s a cabinet and there’s a wider than that circle of advisors. And domain specialists. And what they can advise him to do just applies to the stuff that he can change when he’s in office, as opposed to the entrenched stuff that the “administrative state” and all of its alphabet agencies is constantly implementing. And which even the president and his people can’t keep track of.

Grandpa Joe is told by someone why he can’t change border policies or tighten the border, why the sea level is rising and will flood the country if gasoline burning engines aren’t phased out, why the social security system is not going to go bankrupt.

And he has no basis for challenging the flood of detail supporting these ideas. . .

Even if he weren’t half-senile. And too much oriented toward wokism.
