As you can read in my earlier blog posts—Judging Judges, A Bittersweet Legal Victory, and Honor and Dishonor—Judge Ross Buchanan was derelict in his duties, failing to rule in a timely fashion on a really important issue affecting many thousands of people, including students, faculty, and staff of CollegeAmerica and Center for Excellence in Higher Education. Finally, after the Colorado Commission on Judicial Discipline received two complaints about his delay and issued a reprimand, Judge Buchanan delivered a copycat ruling, later reversed on appeal, in which he wholesale accepted the alleged findings drafted by the Colorado Attorney General, led in this case by far-leftist Libby DeBlasio Webster.
It has now been announced that Judge Buchanan is quitting the bench after serving only one term. This refusal to run for re-election is a rare occurrence. Good riddance to a bad, derelict judge.
