The world is not going to Hell. In fact, it’s moving towards “Heaven on Earth.”
In recent decades, innovators and entrepreneurs have produced greater progress and abundance than ever before—and they continue doing so at an ever-increasing rate.
A few stats:
- Extreme poverty in the world has been cut in half in 10 years – half the world’s population can now be considered “middle class.”
- Life expectancy worldwide has increased by more than 3 years in the past 10 years.
- And, climate change? Annual deaths from climate-related disasters declined by 1/3 between 2000 and 2009.
By all measures, the world is getting better and better for human life. The cause is technology and entrepreneurship, made possible by (relatively) free minds and markets.
See Chelsea Follett’s excellent Cato presentation below (which was sponsored by Prometheus Foundation). See HumanProgress’ short “History of Progress,” which indicates the remarkable trajectory of man’s life-serving accomplishments. And see Johan Norberg’s recent WSJ article, “The 2010s Have Been Amazing.”
There’s a whole lot of good going on.
